At Wasatch Front Frenchies we strive to provide only the best homes for our adult breeding dogs. We want all of our breeding dogs to be placed in loving homes where they will spend their entire lives, even while they remain part of our breeding program. This is why we offer a guardian program where qualified families will receive a FREE puppy/dog while we retain the breeding rights.
Guardian families are expected to properly care for their new puppy/dog physically and financially. We will cover all costs associated to breeding and care for/own all litters produced by guardian family dogs. You will get a wonderful dog to add to your family at no cost, and we get to use him/her in our breeding program. Guardian dogs will remain your forever-family pet, but will come to us every so often to sire/whelp their litters.
Qualifications:
Owning a female guardian dog:
When your dog is of age, has passed all of her health testing and has gone through her first heat cycle, she is ready to be bred. The second heat cycle typically happens around 12-18 months of age. When the second heat cycle begins, you must notify us. Guardians must be able to detect a heat cycle and keep females away from intact male dogs during this time. When you notify us that the second heat cycle has begun, we will schedule a time for you to drop your dog off with us for a short stay that will typically be between 3 and 6 days. Once the breeding process is complete, you can pick your dog back up and she will remain with you throughout the course of her pregnancy. We will provide you with information on how to properly care for your pregnant dog. A dog’s pregnancy lasts 62 days. About one week before your dog’s due date, you will return her to us and she will remain in our care until her puppies are weaned. This is about an 8-week stay. You can visit your dog and her puppies as often as you would like. Females retire at around the age of 4-6 (typically after having 3-4 litters). After retirement, we will pay to spay your dog and she will continue to live the remainder of her life with you.
Owning a male guardian dog:
Once your dog is of age, has passed all of his health testing, and is ready to breed (whenever he has matured) our male dogs will spend a few days with us at a time when needed during breeding, typically a few times a year. Guardians must be able to keep male dogs away from intact female dogs in heat. Males retire at around the age of 5-7, after retirement the male will be neutered and continue to live the remainder of his life with his guardian family.
Other requirements:
-Fluffy French Bulldogs do not require professional grooming. However, dogs should be bathed and have nails trimmed on a regular basis.
-We require that you allow us to make arrangements to pick up the puppy/dog throughout various stages in its life to get photos taken to display on our website/social media channels.
-Guardian dogs are to be kept on a healthy diet at all times including feeding our chosen food brand and any required supplements.
-Guardian families are required to take their puppy/dog to the vet for its annual vaccines and whenever else needed (aside from breeding related visits).
-Guardian dogs will keep their given name although you may have as many nicknames for them as you like. Guardian dogs must respond to their given name, which is not to be changed.
